A man was indicted in the death of a 34-year-old who was shot in an SUV that later crashed into a house in Dayton.

A grand jury indicted 42-year-old Angelo Jamille Champion, of Dayton, on two counts each of murder and felonious assault and one count of having weapons while under disability, according to Montgomery County Common Pleas Court records.

He is scheduled to be arraigned on Thursday.

Champion is accused of shooting and killing Djuan Hill on Nov. 23 in Dayton. Hill died the following morning at Miami Valley Hospital, according to Montgomery County Coroner Dr. Kent Harshbarger.

Around 7:30 a.m. on Nov. 23, Dayton police responded to the 4600 block of Forsythe Avenue on a report of a shooting.

Before officers arrived on scene, a 911 caller reported an SUV crashed into her house in the 1900 block of Arlene Avenue, and that a man in the back seat had been shot, according to Dayton Municipal Court documents.

Investigators determined Champion was at a party on Forsythe Avenue when he reportedly got into an argument with Hill.

Hill got into a Chevrolet Traverse with a friend and Champion walked over to the SUV and pointed a gun at the door where Hill was sitting and fired one time, according to municipal court documents.

The friend drove away with Hill still inside the SUV before crashing into a Hyundai and then hitting a house on Arlene Avenue.

The driver was taken to a local hospital with minor injuries from a collision. The Hyundai driver was not injured.

Champion was arrested on Jan. 2 following a standoff on Wisconsin Boulevard in Dayton.
