A Dayton man indicted Friday is accused of shooting a man in the hands who had been working on his car because the repairs were taking too long and cost too much.

Leshon Denair Rolack Jr., 31, is scheduled to be arraigned Tuesday in Montgomery County Common Pleas Court for two counts of felonious assault and two counts of having weapons while under disability.

Dayton police responded around 10 a.m. July 29 to a shooting in the 400 block of Holt Street.

The gunshot victim, who fled in his pickup truck to the 900 block of West Riverview Avenue, told police he was fixing a vehicle and that the customer, identified as Rolack, did not like how long it was taking and thought it was too expensive. He demanded his money back, according to an affidavit.

The gunshot victim “stated that he gave him back partial and that Rolack did not like that. Rolack retrieved a firearm and shot (the other man) in both hands,” the affidavit stated.

The gunshot victim said he tried to fire back but his gun was not working and he fled the area.

Police found him in the 900 block of West Riverview Avenue. He was taken to a local hospital for treatment of injuries that were not life-threatening, Dayton police Lt. Steven Bauer said.

Rolack also left the scene in his vehicle before police arrived. Witnesses and the gunshot victim identified him as the shooting, according to the affidavit.

He is held on $100,000 bail in the Montgomery County Jail.
