A 17-year-old boy who was found in a Dayton alley last month and died a few days later has been identified after the Montgomery County Coroner’s Office asked for the public’s help.

Montgomery County Coroner Dr. Kent Harshbarger said Tuesday the remains were identified as Cole Allen of Gettysburg, Ohio.

Allen was found in an alley behind 146 S. Irwin St. after an incident, the coroner said, and pronounced dead at Miami Valley Hospital on Dec. 26. The cause and manner of death have not been determined, the coroner said.

The coroner released a press release Monday asking the public for help identifying Allen.

A Dayton police report says that on Dec. 21, multiple crews responded to the area for “a person down” at around 8 p.m. Further information about the case has not been released.
