Police at Wright State University gave the all clear Monday night after a report of a shot fired in a dormitory on its main campus.

“At about 7 p.m. Wright State Police responded to a report of shots fired at Cedar Hall,” said Seth Bauguess, director of the university’s office of communications. “No one was injured and they do have one person in custody.”

An all-campus safety alert was sent out.

The victim told campus police that the incident started over missing property. The victim and suspect in custody are acquainted, and the suspect, who is not a student, has been trespassed from campus.

Counselors were on site and available for students Monday night, Bauguess said.

Students experiencing emotional distress also can contact Raider Cares at 937-775-4567. The line is a 24-hour crisis phone service staffed by off-site mental health professionals who provide emotional support, assistance, crisis intervention and suicide prevention to Wright State students.

In addition, counseling services will be available for walk-in services starting at 8:30 a.m. Tuesday at the student union and will be available to students as needed throughout the week.

A social media post asked anyone with information to contact Wright State Police at 937-775-2111.
