Dayton police investigating shooting involving local liquor store

Police are investigating after a reported shooting Thursday evening in Dayton that involved a local liquor store.

The shooting was reported at 10:19 p.m. in the 1400 block of West Fifth Street. However, on investigation police found that the shooting actually occurred at Gina’s Liquor, Beer & Wine at 2227 Germantown St., according to Dayton Police Lt. Steven Bauer.

The gunshot victim, a 25-year-old man, was driven to West Fifth Street from the liquor store, police said. He was then taken to Miami Valley Hospital, according to Montgomery County Regional Dispatch Center records.

Bauer said that his injuries were not life-threatening.

A 911 caller said that the victim said he had been shot in the thigh, and that the caller believed that the victim knew who the shooter was.

The Dayton Police Department’s Violent Offender Unit is investigating the shooting.
