A woman who was run over by a truck while holding a baby in Dayton Wednesday has been released from the hospital, according to police.

Police responded to the 2800 block of East Third Street around 6:45 p.m. on a report of a pedestrian-related crash.

“The suspect and victim got into a verbal argument and the victim was assaulted, eventually being thrown to the ground while holding her baby, and the adult female’s legs were run over by the vehicle,” said Dayton police Sgt. Roberta Bailey. “The baby was not run over.”

The 26-year-old woman was transported to Miami Valley Hospital and has been released. The baby, who is approximately 5 months old, was taken to Dayton Children’s Hospital as a precaution.

“The suspect and victim are known to each other and Dayton Police Domestic Violence Detectives are investigating the incident,” Bailey added.

A 911 caller said that a man in a truck hit the woman holding a baby, running over the woman’s leg. She said that it wasn’t clear if or how the baby was hurt but said the child had blood on the back of his shirt.

In the 911 call, the caller relayed from the woman that the man in the truck was her boyfriend. He then fled the scene.
