Natalie Portman arrives at the Oscars on Sunday, Feb. 9, 2020, at the Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles.

Actress Natalie Portman not only dazzled with her red carpet look at the 2020 Academy Awards but also made a statement.

According to USA Today and CNN, the "Black Swan" star donned a black cape emblazoned with the names of several women who weren't included among the best director nominees, such as Greta Gerwig, Marielle Heller and Lorene Scafaria. All of this year's best director nominees were men.

Portman said she wore the cape "to recognize the women who were not recognized for their incredible work this year in my subtle way," according to the news outlets.
