When you have one of the largest inventories of P. Buckley Moss art in the nation, it’s not difficult to get the artist to visit for some face-to-face time. By now, avid Moss print collectors know of her yearly treks to the Canada Goose Gallery in Waynesville.
This will be the 14th time that Moss has come to Waynesville to sign her work for area fans.
“Pat loves history, and the Quakers are certainly a big part of Waynesville history,” said gallery owner Laura DeRamus.
“A lot people that are Moss collectors make it a point to come and see Pat wherever she is, and we always have a great turnout here.”
Although Moss lives in Florida, much of her art reflects the quiet nature and the simple lifestyles of the Amish and the Mennonites in the Shenandoah Valley, in Waynesboro, Va., where Moss used to live. Several remarqued prints will be available at the gallery this year. These are earlier prints embellished by her new, original watercolor work. For example, in “Lady in Blue,” the Giclee print shows a woman; the remarque shows the same woman with a baby in her arms.
“This is the first time she has done so many remarqued prints,”DeRamus said.
“She will sign purchased art, and at least two pieces that collectors bring with them.”
Two additional events are slated for those who want to get to know the artist on a personal basis.
Moss will be joining collectors and friends on the Ghost Tour at 6:30 p.m. Friday, Oct. 30. Conducted by the Museum at the Friends Home, the tour includes the Quaker Hill area and cemetery in Waynesville. Reservations cost $10; the tour starts at the Friends Home, 155 Fourth St.
Dinner with P. Buckley Moss is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. at Der Dutchman Restaurant on Ohio 42 at $20 per person. This fundraiser will benefit the Greene County Chapter of AMBUCS, a service organization for the disabled.
“The House Warming” print will be raffled, and an AmTryke therapeutic tricycle will be given away.
