2 Gingers Irish Whiskey created in U.S., distilled in Ireland

Kieran Folliard, creator of 2 Gingers Irish Whiskey, lives in the U.S. now, but he’s from a small town in Ireland and has the accent to prove it. That also means he knows good Irish whiskey when he tastes it.

His 2 Gingers is made in Ireland at Kilbeggan, but “the blend, the brand (2 Gingers is named after my mother and aunt) was conceived in the bar,” he said, stating that he came up with it at first to have in the four pubs he owns in Minnesota.

Now, though, it’s found in all 50 states, partly because Folliard makes the whiskey so accessible with a cocktail recipe he said will appeal to even people who don’t like the often big, boozy nature of the dark spirit. The “Big Ginger,” as he’s dubbed it, is simply 2 Gingers — which is aged four years and distilled twice, rather than three times like other Irish whiskey brands, so that the whiskey stands out better in cocktails — with ginger ale.

Pour 2 Gingers into a collins glass with ice. Top with ginger ale, followed by a wedge of a lemon and a lime.
