"Cry Pretty" landed at No. 1 with 266,000 equivalent album units last week, the biggest first-week of 2018 debut for a female artist (Cardi B's "Invasion of Privacy" is at No. 2 for the year with 255,000 units) as well as the biggest week for a country album in over three years, since Luke Bryan's "Kill the Lights" sold 345,000 units in its first week on Aug. 29, 2015.
While Taylor Swift has charted five No. 1 albums on the Billboard 200, only three of them also charted on the Top Country Albums chart, excluding her pop-focused "reputation" and "1989" albums.
Underwood's No. 1 debut bumped Eminem's "Kamikaze," which had previously held the top spot, down to No. 2 this week, down 24 percent with 103,000 units sold this week.
