Less than a week later, the rapper showed up to perform on Wednesday with staff from Complex magazine.
The students erupted in cheers, screams and surprise as the 20-year-old musician appeared on stage at the school’s gym.

"It was an unbelievable experience," Evans told WKYC. "Lil Nas made this happen for our students and they will never forget it! I am thankful for an amazing staff at Lander and our Mayfield Heights Safety forces who went above and beyond to make this happen. I couldn't imagine a better way to end our school year."

At the end of the performance, Lil Nas X tossed out some stuffed toy horses to the students.
