Local favorite Chrissy Teigen, ‘the unofficial voice of generation fed up’ named Woman of the Year

A local favorite can add “Woman of the Year” to her bio.

Chrissy Teigen, the wife of Springfield favorite son John Legend, has been named one of "Glamour" magazine's Women of the Year along with Viola DavisJanelle MonaeBetty Reid Soskin, Senator Kamala Harris, Manal al-Sharif and the 104 women who took down sex abuser Larry Nassar, the former USA Gymnastics team doctor and a former osteopathic physician at Michigan State University.

In its article, the magazine calls Teigen, a model and the host of Spike TV's "Lip Sync Battle," "everyone's favorite social media spirit animal" and the "unofficial voice of  generation fed up."

Chrissy Teigen has been named a 2018 Glamour Woman of the Year.

She is not from the Miami Valley, but by golly do many — not all —  local residents love them some Chrissy Teigen.

A little over a year ago, Teigen made a local waitress' day when she dropped a $1,000 tip at the Outback Steakhouse at 101 E. Alex Bell Road in Cross Pointe Shopping Center.

Teigen talks about celebrity, her relationship with Legend and her use of social media for the Glamour article.

"That's my connection to the outside world. I genuinely love doing it. I always have," she said in the interview. "I enjoy talking to people and feeling like I know them and having this conversation."

The opinions she expresses on Twitter are sometimes controversial and have led to threats.

Both Legend and Teigen have been critical of President Donald Trump.

“Our lives would be so much easier if we didn’t dabble in politics at all,” she told the magazine. “But I don’t want that kind of life. For us, we are willing to take that risk because we believe in it so passionately.”
