“Hey guys. I’m really nervous to post this. Please help if you can and pray for my family,” the Oct. 1 tweet read. “I’m sorry I never said anything sooner and that I’m suddenly asking for help. I love you guys so much.”

Later in the month, Swift got word of the GoFundMe and made a $15,000 donation. The gift was signed, “Love, Taylor, Meredith and Olivia Swift.”
"We'd like to applaud the generosity of @taylorswift13, who has been a part of our giving community since the beginning," GoFundMe said on Twitter.
The donation was enough to get the family to its original $25,000 goal, set by Sadie's aunt, Natalie Burningham Nordlund, in September 2015.

"Everyone who knows me knows that Taylor Swift is my whole entire life. She has been there for me more than anyone. I really, truly, would not be who I am without her," Sadie said in a Facebook post the day Swift made the donation. "Today she read my family's story online and out of the goodness of her heart donated to us. She shows up every time I need her. She always has and she always will. I wish that I could express how much it means to me that ANYONE has helped my family over the years, let alone Taylor. She is the light at the end of the tunnel and is truly the best thing that has ever happened to me. I will never be able to comprehend this. She is a miracle in herself. She just gave my family exactly what we need to carry on."
Since then, the goal for the fundraiser has increased to $40,000. More than $27,000 has been raised so far.
