“It’s really, really diverse,” said Opera House manager Brian Ehlers of the lineup.
Entertainment will include classic rock ’n’ roll, Dixieland, country, gospel, Celtic, folk and even an open-mic night. Most feature local groups or individuals, but there will also be some bigger name acts later in the season.
Ehlers said part of the appeal of shows at the venue besides the acts is the atmosphere of the 225-seat theater, opened in 1893.
While drawing patrons from nearby Springfield, Cedarville and Yellow Springs to Kettering and Beavercreek, Ehlers said the Opera House is still one of the best kept secrets in Greene County and has perfect acoustics.
“People even like the smell of the Opera House,” he said. “I played here when it reopened when there was still sawdust on the floor. Someone else said to me, ‘This is what Americana is.’ ”
Shows will be most Friday and Saturday evenings beginning at 7:30 p.m., with the doors open at 6:30, through Dec. 3.
Typical admission price is $10 unless noted and proceeds are used for maintenance and repairs to the building.
