Dayton couple appears on episode of ‘Below Deck Mediterranean’

The owners of Belle of Dayton distillery enjoyed a very interesting wedding anniversary celebration — on television.

Murphy and Beth LaSelle appeared on Season 9, Episode 14 of “Below Deck Mediterranean” that aired Sept. 2 on Bravo. The “Below Deck” franchise is about the staff of large yachts rented for short charters by various people, sometimes celebrities. It takes a look at what the staff is up to as it works to keep guests happy (and this season, the boat from flooding).

Murphy LaSelle started The Belle of Dayton with his brothers Mike and Tim. Beth LaSelle is a corporate finance manager at CareSource.

Belle of Dayton made history releasing the first bourbon distilled, aged and bottled in the Gem City since prohibition. In May 2023, Detrick Fine Whiskies Single Barrel Bourbon Batch 001 was released with online sales only and was sold out in 60 seconds.

The distillery won Ohio’s first double gold medal at the San Francisco World Spirits Competition.

On the episode of “Below Deck Med,” the crew leaders meet to discuss the charter guests’ preferences ahead of their arrival. Captain Sandy Yawn says the LaSelles will be joined by three other married couples celebrating their 15th-year wedding anniversaries, all at the same time.

The guests’ preference sheets included a request for tapas for lunches instead of full meals, and they asked for specific inflatables for use on the water.

Upon arrival, the guests were treated to a beverage and given a tour of the yacht, called Mustique.

The chief stew, Aesha Scott, asks them where are they from, and gets the answer “Ohio.” Aesha tells them she has never been to Ohio, to which one replies, “it’s just like this,” as they are looking from the yacht out to a sunny Mediterranean Sea in Greece.

The episode is called “New Kid on the Dock” because the crew added a new stewardess to the interior staff. It may be streamed on Peacock.
