“We’re all about wings, beer and sports, and we are always looking for new offerings to enhance the guest experience at our restaurants,” Kathy Benning, the chain’s executive vice president of global marketing, brand and business development, said in a statement. “Our guests, above all, are sports fans, and they’re looking for that social environment to enjoy the game with their friends. We’re excited to offer the Game Changer, knowing that it was created with them in mind.”
The new brew, with 4.6 alcohol by volume, is “not too heavy or too high in alcohol so people can enjoy drinking it responsibly over the course of a whole game,” Andy Thomas, president of Redhook owner Craft Brew Alliance, said in a news release. Early reports suggested Game Changer would be limited to sale only at Buffalo Wild Wings, but the brewery later said the beer may become available at other locations that carry Redhook brews.
Executives at Buffalo Wild Wings — which offers more than 50 brands of beer, including 30 craft labels — have said they want to sell more craft beers, citing favorable price points and growing popularity among consumers, according to the trade publication Nation’s Restaurant News.
Buffalo Wild Wings operates 10 Dayton-area restaurants: on Brown Street near the University of Dayton; in Kettering in the Town & Country shopping center; near the Mall at Fairfield Commons in Beavercreek; on Waynetowne Boulevard in Huber Heights; on South Alex Road in West Carrollton; on Wilmington Pike in Centerville; on South Main Street in Englewood; on North Main Street in Springboro; on West Main Street in Troy; and on Columbus Avenue in Lebanon, according to the company’s web site.
An employee at the Brown Street restaurant confirmed that the new brew will be available there and at other Dayton-area locations on July 15.
