Country music star Josh Turner loves performing in the Buckeye State. When the multiplatinum-selling singer-songwriter brings his All About You Tour to the Clark State Performing Arts Center, he’ll find himself among a Circle of Friends.

Turner will be in concert at 8 p.m. Friday, May 13, as part of the 2016 Circle of Friends Celebration. Circle of Friends is a committee responsible for the Clark State Performing Arts Center’s fundraising efforts and annual gala.

The show is appropriate for all audiences.

“It’s always good to be out on the road doing what we love and fun to connect with fans,” Turner said. “The way we’re received (in Ohio) just feels fresh. We always look forward to being up there.”

Turner became one of country’s top stars of the new millennium, with each of his five studio albums landing in the country album chart top three.

The singles “Your Man,” “Would You Go With Me,” “Why Don’t We Just Dance” and “All Over Me” each reached No. 1.

Turner said he and his seven-piece band will perform all the hits and at least five new songs. Among them will be the new single, “Hometown Girl,” which will be released this month.

He’s working on a new album he anticipates to be released toward the end of 2016.

With a big youth movement in country music and society, Turner constantly works to improve so his music reflects that. What works for him is having diverse music.

“No two songs are alike. We have some that are old-time, bluegrass, rhythm and blues, gospel, mainstream,” he said.

Turner has always been outspoken about his faith and lets that guide him through the ups and downs of the entertainment business. For him that means working hard to be relevant and standing out.

“That’s why God called me into this business and exactly why I’ve been around so many years,” he said. “From day one, my audience has run the gamut. Parents don’t have to worry about what I might say. I have a family-oriented show and a safe, uplifting place.”

The Circle of Friends event will be 5:30 p.m. May 13 at the Hollenbeck Bayley Creative Arts and Conference Center starting with a cocktail hour, followed by dinner and a program. The party will then move to the Performing Arts Center for the concert, then finish the evening back at the conference center.

Circle of Friend Celebration tickets cost $150 each, which includes the dinner, show and after-party.
