Could this local graduate be one of Disney’s next big music stars?

Kettering native Holly Gyenes has been hired by Disney as an original cast member for its new a cappella concert tour experience.

Gyenes graduated from Kettering Fairmont High School in 2013. She was a member of the award-winning a cappella group, Eleventh Hour. Eleventh Hour made national headlines when it was the youngest group to appear on "The Sing-Off" back in 2010.

Kettering native and UD graduate Holly Gyenes will be traveling with Disney's new a cappella group, D Cappella enditions of Disney classics and pop favorites.

In 2015, Gyenes was heard as a background singer on the self-titled album from three-time Grammy award-winning a cappella group Pentatonix.

Following her graduation from the University of Dayton in 2017 with a degree in Music Arts, she performed with the professional a cappella group Vocalight, which recently won third place at Varsity Vocal's International A cappella Open at Carnegie Hall in New York City.

Remedy, the University of Dayton's first a cappella group, took first place at Harmony Sweepstakes regional competition held in Chicago on March 21, 2015. About D Cappella: To qualify, Gyenes was required to submit a video recording of two audition pieces — one pop song and one Disney cover. After Disney reviewed her submission, she was selected for the lineup.

Performing a cappella renditions of Disney classics and pop favorites, D Cappella will travel the United States wowing crowds with their vocal talents.

Deke Sharon, considered the “Godfather of Contemporary A Cappella” was called on to help form the group.

D Cappella will present new, contemporary arrangements of Disney repertoire and this seven-member group will perform at approximately 40 arts venues across the United States. Tour dates will be announced in early 2018.
