There’s something special about thrift shopping. For some, like myself, it’s sort of therapeutic. I can just walk around, clear my mind and see if anything catches my eye. No rush if I don’t find anything. For others, is sort of an adventure: Searching for that amazing item with the cheap price tag. And, lately, thrift shopping is considered to be smart, and eco-friendly.

We are lucky Palm Beach County is a wealthy area, which means first-class cast-offs can be found at area re-sale shops while sometimes supporting a good cause at the same time.

PALM BEACH:

Goodwill Embassy Boutique

When cast-offs are too good for the average Goodwill store, they’re sent to loll around this well-curated shop in Palm Beach. The selection of items include artwork, jewelry and designer clothing.

The Church Mouse

The Church Mouse is famous because it's in Palm Beach, synonym to high-end home goods and other things. Martha Stewart checks out the pedigreed antiques, fine jewelry and real designer duds in this Palm Beach shop when she's in town. The shop is now open for the 2018-2019 season.

You’ll find high-end designer clothing, handbags, shoes, furniture, jewelry and other items at this popular store in West Palm Beach. And on certain days, all the furniture in the back room is 50 percent off! The proceeds of purchases at Nearly New benefit the seniors served by the programs of MorseLife Health System.

In fact, if you happen to pull an item — whether clothes, shoes or accessories — that doesn't have a price tag on it, you'll often be delighted at the register with a bigger deal than expected.

Lord’s Place Thrift Shop

Palm Beach ladies love to support – and donate – to this shop in West Palm Beach’s south end. Also, a great benefit offered by the Lord’s Place is the employment training opportunities for homeless program participants.

This Lake Worth store has recently been remodeled. It can be a fun place to shop with its racks of clothes arranged by color and gender. They offer an incredibly diverse selection of high quality used clothes and merchandise. But it gets crowded! So, check the website to find a good day to visit!
