Christmas in the Country in Shandon

Shandon, Ohio’s first Welsh settlement, is celebrating its 37th annual old-fashioned Christmas in the Country from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 30 and from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday Dec. 1 in downtown Shandon at St. Aloysius Church on Chapel Road.

There will be food, music, antiques and crafts and free horse-drawn trolley rides. Welsh cakes and other home-cooked food, as well as arts and crafts.

The historic local shops will be open with antiques and collectibles, furniture, country crafts and Alpaca products. Welsh Cakes will be available at many locations.

Visit Santa Claus in the Old Fire House from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 30 and from 1 to 3 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 1. The free carriage rides will be from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. each day.

Shandon, formally Paddy’s Run and New London, is located on State Route 126, four miles west of Ross. St. Aloysius is just over one mile west of downtown Shandon at the junction of Cincinnati Brookville and Chapel roads.
