“It’s a nice mix with The Lone Bellow opening the series in Middletown, and they are going to have a new album out, and that show is doing well. Then, we come in with Sierra Hull, who was nominated for a Grammy Award with a Bela Fleck-produced album,” said the program’s long-time director Howard Epstein, who recently retired.

We always look for talent first, and shows that we think are going to be successful, he said. We try to have a mix of new and familiar artists in the series, he explained. Doyle Lawson has played here before, and Sierra Hull was here once with an ensemble group, but now she’s a rising artist.

This year there are four concerts in the series with two in Hamilton and two in Middletown – one in the fall and one in the spring at each venue. The number of concerts is fewer this year due to it being a transitional year, and the recent retirement of Epstein, who has served as the director of the series for the past 33 years.

Miami University Middletown is located at 4200 N. University Blvd. Concerts will be held at Dave Finkelman Auditorium. Miami University Hamilton is located at 1601 University Blvd. Concerts will be held at Parrish Auditorium.

Ticket prices vary for each show. Season ticket packages are available for both venues — in Hamilton and Middletown. More shows could be added, and the season is expected to ramp up to full production next season. There were nine shows held last season.
