Nothing beats the summer doldrums like some time out on the water. When work, errands and the day-to-day start to get to you, sometimes a trip to the river can help recharge your batteries and make you feel like a new person.

If you love music and the outdoors, Adventures Fest is just the event to revive your late-summer spirit. Engage in outdoor activities and enjoy some of the best musical acts Ohio has to offer. You can even bring the kids and make a weekend of it.

THE MUSIC

Whether you like indie rock, folk or alternative country music, Adventures Fest has you covered. From Dayton bands like Lioness and Shrug, to popular Ohio artists Young Heirlooms and Jessica Lea Mayfield, Adventures Fest will have you soaking up the sounds while you catch some rays.

“I absolutely love playing big outdoor festivals,” says Nathan Peters of Lioness. “It works so well for us having a big band to get on the big stage. We are playing lots of new tunes at Adventures Fest.”

The music starts at noon on Saturday and goes all the way until midnight. There will be a main stage featuring full bands, as well as an acoustic stage for solo acts.

HAVE FUN ON THE RIVER

Become one with the Great Miami River.

Ever since the Thompson party landed on the banks of the Great Miami in 1796, Dayton’s cultural identity has been associated with our region’s rivers. At Adventures Fest, attendees can tap into the spirit of the water by renting a canoe, kayak or stand-up paddleboard and taking an optional river trip for an additional fee.

“That river is such an amazing place,” Peters said. “I love getting out on the water so I’m looking forward to doing so myself this weekend. My mother wrote a musical about the 1913 flood, so I have long held a fascination with waterways. The power of water is incredible.”

Let the wind rustle your hair and let the sunbeams warm your skin as you take in the sounds on the riverbanks of the Great Miami at Adventures Fest this Saturday.
