"I love being an artist, and I think the passion shows when you love doing what you do," Mac said. "I love performing. I love songwriting and how a song can find its way into someone's heart. You're dropping a joy bomb on somebody or causing them to think or dialogue or forgive. I love that a song somehow has a chance to do all of those things to people.
"I wrote a song about it called 'Beyond Me' because it literally is beyond me," he continued. "It takes something bigger than me to stir up that kind of reaction. When I'm making my records, I'm always sort of hoping and praying something will happen that is beyond me."
Mac is currently out on his the Hits Deep Tour 2017 featuring Matt Maher, Mandisa, Mac Powell and other special guests.

"We try to make the lineup pretty diverse musically but there is a common thread," Mac said. "We're all fairly accessible. Mac Powell will be doing some of his own songs and also some Third Day songs. We have some of the younger acts coming up like Hollyn, which is R&B pop, and Capital Kings is EDM, of course, and me and the Diverse City Band will be doing that big old pot of musical gumbo that we do."
Mac’s latest album, “Hits Deep Live,” was released in late 2016 by his longtime label ForeFront Records, which is part of the Universal Music Group. While he is currently writing songs for the official follow-up to his 2015 studio album, “This is Not a Test,” his major focus right now is the Hits Deep Tour.
"The Hits Deep Tour is focused on multiple bands doing their hit songs," Mac said. "They're all radio hits so the people coming to the arena will be hearing songs they know all night long. A few of the people have two or three hits so that's what they'll be playing. Most of them have more than that so if they have six or seven hits they'll play longer. The goal is to be deep in hits all night long."
