The Ronald McDonald House is offering a virtual cooking class for a good cause

The Ronald McDonald House Charities of Dayton has crafted an innovative way to raise money for the charity amid the coronavirus pandemic.

On Saturday, April 25 at 6 p.m., local chefs and restaurants will be offering a unique virtual cooking class, the proceeds of which will go to the Ronald McDonald House in Dayton. The virtual cooking class will be hosted by chefs Casey and Patrick Van Voorhis of Grist, with a wine tutorial by Brent Wagener of Heidelberg Distributing and a pre-dinner cocktail crafted by Tender Mercy.

Individuals will be able to register for this virtual cooking class for $80, while couples will get a discount at $150 for the class. Each registrant can add a dinner and drinks to the virtual cooking class for $70 and just the dinner portion for $40. Participants can register for the class and accompanying dinner by visiting rmhcdayton.org. All proceeds from this class will benefit the Ronald McDonald House.

After registering for the class, you will receive an email with a link to the virtual cooking class no later than Wednesday, April 22 at 5 p.m.

Aside from the virtual cooking class, you will receive ingredients that make it possible for you to make this three-course meal at home. The three-course meal includes a Spring Green & Sunflower Salad, a Meyer Lemon & Ricotta Gnocchi and a Mixed Berry Clafoutis for dessert. Additionally, a bottle of wine and two batched cocktails come with the meal kit.

The Ronald McDonald House Charities of Dayton will be hosting a fundraiser in the form of a virtual cooking class on Saturday, April 25 at 6 p.m.

Participants will pick up these pre-measured and individually-packed ingredients and drinks from Tender Mercy’s newly-formed Mercy Mart, located at 607 E. Third St. in Dayton, from Friday, April 24, between 3-7 p.m. or Saturday, April 25, from noon to 4 p.m.

In order to create this meal from home, you will need the following cooking equipment:

- Three medium-sized mixing bowls

- A medium-sized pot

- A 10-inch saute pan

- A nine-inch baking dish or cast iron pan

- A wooden spoon

- A slotted spoon

- A serving spoon

- A rubber spatula

- A chef’s knife or bowl scraper

- A large cutting board
