Dayton Mayor Nan Whaley emphasized the importance of volunteerism, and said the momentum needs to continue. “We know this is going to be a long-term recovery. We will need volunteers throughout the summer,” she said.
Since the tornadoes hit, the community has stepped up to help with donations of money, supplies, food and water. Churches, nonprofits and volunteers from across the region and beyond have rolled up their sleeves and have helped with the distribution of supplies, cleaned up debris and hauled it away.

MANNA Worldwide Warehouse Project
Weekly opportunities are available, allowing you to play a vital role as MANNA Worldwide works to impact lives and bring about change within the communities. Visit their website to see how you can get involved.
Family Assistance Center (at 1500 Shiloh Springs Road)
20 volunteers are needed this Saturday, June 22, and June 24 through 29 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Call 937-610-6012 for more info and to volunteer.
Lutheran Social Services
There are a variety of volunteer opportunities available. Visit their website to see what is available.
Crayons to Classrooms
There are many volunteer opportunities available with Crayons to Classrooms to support teachers and students affected by the storms. Visit their website to learn more.
Northridge Area Food Bank
The food bank needs volunteers so those who have been on site daily can rest. Monday through Friday from 12 to 6 p.m., help is needed sorting and distributing food. You do not have to work the full six hours, just as long as you can. 2251 Timber Lane, Dayton.
Harrison Township Fire Station
Show up at 2400 Turner Road to the Fire Station anytime between 12 to 6 p.m. Monday through Saturday. Volunteers are still needed. If you would like to make a final donation, items like shampoo, conditioner, deodorant and cleaning supplies can be donated. Call or text Amanda at 309-370-8741 to be set up with a specific location that needs your help. This will be their last week of operation.
Vineyard Church
The Dayton Vineyard Church, located at 4051 Indian Ripple Road, Beavercreek is focusing their efforts on removing debris from hard-hit areas in Beavercreek. To help, meet at the church at 8 a.m. Wear proper clothing and work gloves. If you have a chainsaw, bring it with you. They plan on working for a few hours then see how it goes from there, and they are hoping to see at least 100 volunteers.

Trotwood Schools
Trotwood schools are accepting donations of uniforms, school supplies and book bags. For information, contact Tyrone Olverson - Superintendent of Schools at 937-854-3050 x 1100.
Waffle House
The Waffle House at 226 Needmore Road is doing a fundraiser it has dubbed “Tornadoes to Toys.” On Monday, June 24, from 2 to 9 p.m., a percentage of sales will be used to buy new toys for children displaced by the tornadoes. Two large barrels are also available inside the doors where customers can drop off new or gently used toys.
Pippin’s Market
Pippin's Market, 5440 Olive Road, Trotwood, will now be open 3 days a week, Tuesdays and Thursdays from 3 to 7 p.m. and Saturdays from noon to 4 p.m. Donations and volunteers will be accepted during those days. They are requesting 10 volunteers for each day, so message their page and sign up. Check out their Facebook page to see what items they need. You can also contact Hayley Carson at (937) 269-9186 to schedule delivery. They plan to continue this as long as possible.
St. Vincent De Paul
St. Vincent De Paul is in need of furniture donations. Chairs, tables, sofas, lamps and more will be accepted. Deliver to 945 S Edwin C. Moses Blvd. You can donate Monday through Friday from 7:30 a.m. to 4:45 p.m. and Saturday 9:30 a.m. to 3:40 p.m.

Benefit Concert at Land of Illusion
Land of Illusion in Middletown is throwing a benefit concert, featuring STP2 and AC/DC tribute band Thunderstruck on Friday, June 21, beginning at 7 p.m. You can bring cash donations, which will be given to the Salvation Army, and non-perishable food items, which will be given to the Dayton Food Bank.
Miami Valley Community Action Partnership Tornado Relief
100% of these donations will be given to tornado relief efforts. No deductions and no fees.
You can fill out a secure donation form on the Dayton Rotary website.
Safe House Studios / Pippins Market Relief Fund
Pippin’s Market want to lend a hand by providing housing information, down payment assistance and home owners insurance deductibles, household necessities and moving assistance to those going through the difficult process of re-homing.
You can make online credit card gifts to the Greater Dayton Disaster Relief Fund at the Dayton Foundation. Once you complete your transaction, the Foundation will send you a letter acknowledging your donation. Your contribution is fully tax deductible.
United Way Dayton is accepting monetary donations as well as other donations ranging from food and rent assistance to diapers. You can also contact them to volunteer by calling 937-225-3039.
You can donate to the Dayton Foodbank online by visiting the donate page on their website. Types of donations include:
- one-time online donations
- a recurring monthly donation
- honor and memorial tribute donations
Matthew 25: Ministries is an international humanitarian aid and disaster relief organization helping the poorest of the poor and disaster victims locally, regionally, nationally and internationally regardless of race, creed or political persuasion. By rescuing and reusing products from major corporations and manufacturers, Matthew 25: Ministries provides basic necessities, nutritional supplements, educational materials, micro-enterprise supplies and disaster relief across the nation and world.

This is a local mission through First Baptist Church New Lebanon that offers clothing, shoes and accessories to those in need from a mobile platform. The only donations that are needed right now are undergarments and socks of all sizes, male and female.
