The funkiest, coolest costumes from the AJC Peachtree Road Race

Atlantans are nothing if not creative. Many runners who showed up to the AJC Peachtree Road Race displayed creativity matched only by their patriotism. They showed there are lots of ways to wear stars and stripes, especially if you don’t mind standing out in the race.

These are some of our favorite costumes and outfits spotted during the race.

Stacey and Ellis Cooley of Boca Raton, Fla., attended with their son Marcus. They said running the Peachtree is a family tradition. Ellis has been running since he was a kid. 2017 will be Marcus's second year running.

Linda Ellis is running in the Peachtree for her seventh year.

Elaine Shiver and Lynn James are running the Peachtree for their sixth and fifth year, respectively. They are dressed in honor of Shiver's daughter, who has leukemia and would normally be walking the race with them.

Bianca and Reda Owens from Marietta are running the AJC Peachtree Road Race together for a fifth year.

"I hiked the Appalachian trail in these boots, I'm not worried. These are my lucky boots," said Zach Lambert, who is running the Peachtree for the first time. He's running with friend HeatherBlumenfeld (second year running) and Ben Johnston (fourth year). All three are from Douglasville.

Kimberly Robinson is running the Peachtree for the first time with Bethany Bearden, who is doing it for the second time. They are from Gainesville.

Clay Rabun of Johns Creek said he can't recall how long he has been running the Peachtree, though it has been at least since the early 1990s.

Adam Gray, Tim Miller and Bob Green of Atlanta represent Three Piece Suit Football. The three have a decade of Peachtree experience between them.
