The Democratic National Convention has concluded. What did we learn during four nights of political blow-hards, has-beens and Hollywood entertainment flops? Nothing of any substance with regard to the last 3 1/2 years that Kamala Harris has been the co-pilot and the last person in the room with Joe Biden when every disastrous decision was made that has created the current problems everyday Americans face today. They spent four days blaming Donald Trump as if he is the current President. They hid the sitting President and current Vice President until after 1/3 of the country had gone to bed for fear they would expose themselves for the incompetent people they really are. Why not let the upside down drummer explain Kamala’s plan for America?

What makes you happy? The immediate thing that comes to mind is my husband’s love. The love of family and friends is a never ending source of joy. We live on the ninth floor of a building with east facing windows overlooking a wooded neighborhood and a golf course in the distance. More often than naught, a sunrise with a kaleidoscope of color reminds us of the beauty and promise of each new day. I find both comfort and joy in my faith and my church community who both lift me up in difficult times and celebrate my happiness is good times. But beyond what happiness others bring to me, it makes me happy to return love, return a kindness. There is great joy in lifting others up, offering an ear, a hug, or even a smile. There is happiness to be found in the salt of the Earth who laugh and celebrate life despite their own personal challenges. There is joy in people who dream for and work to build a better world that is more just, more merciful and more humble.

The National Popular Vote bill would guarantee the Presidency to the candidate who receives the most popular votes in all 50 states and the District of Columbia. The bill would make every person’s vote equal throughout the U.S. It would ensure that every vote, in every state, will matter in every presidential election. We should elect the President by a vote of the people in all 50 states, and the winner should be whoever wins the most votes. I urge you to support the proposal to elect the President by a national popular vote in all 50 states. When we vote for every other office, the candidate who gets the most votes wins. It should be the same for president.
