The special event included a Q&A with both superstars. Cooper plays Jackson Maine, a singer-songwriter suffering from the excess of being on top. He meets and mentors a young singer, Ally (Lady Gaga). The film follows their relationship. Chappelle plays Noodles, a good friend to Cooper’s character.
Chappelle’s daughter, Sanaa, also has a role in the film.

Cooper said he traveled to Yellow Springs twice to convince Chappelle to take this role. One of those trips was to Chappelle’s famous Juke Joint in 2016, which Cooper said inspired a wedding scene in the film.

This isn’t the first time Cooper and other celebrities have heard the siren call of the Greene County village Dave Chappelle calls home.

In July, Chappelle hosted a sold-out, pre-release screening of “Blindspotting” with actress Janina Gavankar in the downtown Little Art Theatre.
Cooper was among a gang of celebrities spotted at Chappelle’s Juke Joint held Oct. 8, 2016, at Whitehall Farms.
Local residents danced their feet off with a list of celebrities that included rappers D-Nice, Talib Kweli and Q-Tip, CBS News' Gayle King, model/actress Naomi Campbell, comedian Donnell Rawlings and magician David Blaine.

Later that month, Cooper popped into town again. He and Chappelle were dining at Dino’s Cappucciono’s. when they were spotted by Ashley Jenkins of Kettering.
"Girl, he was so handsome," Jenkins said. "He is absolutely a beautiful person. He is gorgeous... I was such a
fangirl.”

Amy Schumer was among the celebrities in town for Chappelle’s most recent Juke Joint last spring.
