Chapelle won the best comedy album award last year at the 60th GRAMMY Awards for “The Age of Spin & Deep in the Heart of Texas.”
This go round, he bested "Annihilation" by Patton Oswalt; "Noble Ape" by Jim Gaffigan; "Standup For Drummers" by Fred Armisen; and "Tamborine" by Chris Rock.

Springfield native John Legend played a key role in “Jesus Christ Superstar Live in Concert,” which was a nominee but not aw inner in the best musical theater album category on Sunday.
In September, Legend earned the much-coveted EGOT (the combination of an Emmy, Grammy, Oscar and Tony awards) when he won an Emmy for his role in the production.
He did not attend the Grammy ceremony.
Wife Chrissy Teigen, a television host and model, posted a photo of Legend instead napping on the couch.

Sunday’s Grammy award win continued a string of victories for Chappelle.
In 2017, the “A Star is Born” co-star won the Emmy for Outstanding Guest Actor in a Comedy Series at the Creative Arts Awards for his momentous appearance on “Saturday Night Live.”

“A Star is Born” was a Grammy winner as well in the best pop duo/group performance for “Shallow" by Lady Gaga and Bradley Cooper. “A Star is Born” was nominated as well for record of the year and song of the year.
Chappelle and his daughter Sanaa appear in “A Star is Born” with Bradley Cooper and Lady Gaga.
Cooper and Chappelle were spotted in Yellow Springs in October at a hush-hush screening of “A Star is Born” at the Little Art Theatre.

“A Star is Born” is just one of the Miami Valley’s connection’s to this year’s Academy Awards set for Sunday, Feb. 24.
Hannah Beachler, a Centerville-raised Wright State graduate, has been nominated for the Production Design Academy Award for her work on the blockbuster Marvel movie "Black Panther."
