You will need
Purchased:
Barbie Doll, 99 cents at Goodwill, white acrylic paint, $1.29 at Michaels Arts and Crafts, black acrylic paint, $1.29 at Michaels Arts and Crafts and red acrylic paint, $1.29 at Michaels Arts and Crafts
Items I already had around the house:
Clear acrylic spray or Mod Podge, foam brush, scissors, serrated knife, permanent marker, pencil, manila folder, Gorilla Glue, two toothpicks or wooden skewers and plastic or foam cup.
Directions
1. Draw a line under the knees of the doll.
2. Using your scissors, cut the bottom part of the legs off.
3. Once removed, use a serrated knife and smooth out the cut edge. Also, cut a slit in the top of each removed leg about 1/2-inch thick.
4. Place a toothpick in the top of each leg.
5. Punch two holes in an upside down cup. Stick the skewers with the legs in the cup to hold them in place.
6. Paint each leg with white acrylic.
7. Once dry, paint each foot using the red paint. This will look like the ruby red shoes.
8. Once everything is dry, draw lines about 1/4-inch apart down the front of the leg. Stop at the top of the red paint. Take a pen and rotate the foot so that the line is drawn around the entire leg.
9. Using a permanent marker or black acrylic paint, fill in every other line so that the leg will alternate black and white.
10. Once it is dry, spray on a sealer spray or paint with Mod Podge.
11. While your legs dry, cut out a piece of cardstock or an old manila folder about 8 inches tall and 2 1/2 inches wide.
12. Use Gorilla Glue to apply a little bit to the slit you made earlier in the top of each of your legs. Slide the folder into the slit and let it dry completely.
13. Place the bookmark in your book and enjoy.
