A local fire department has turned the old “he who smelt it, dealt it” adage on its rear.

A sign outside of Huber Heights Fire Division headquarters and Station 22 reads: “Social distance: If you can smell the fart, they’re too close.”

The sign at 7008 Brandt Pike is clearly a humorous way to remind people of the suggestions from health and government officials.

In this case, “social distancing” refers to the practice of allowing adequate physical space — up to six feet or more —  to prevent or slow the spread of communicable diseases, like the coronavirus (COVID-19).

Ohio Department of Health Director Dr. Amy Acton’s stay-at-home order for all Ohioans went into effect Monday, March 23, at midnight.

It will be in effect until April 6.
