The downtown restaurant scene continues to get better and better.

There's no shortage of choices including Basil's on Market, Lock 27, Mudlick Tap House, Table 33 and all of the wonderful spots in the Oregon District. But if you are looking for a cool beer, an over-stuffed deli sandwich and free video game plays to provide a great break in the day, there's one restaurant in particular that is sure to satisfy.

Canal Street Arcade and Deli has some of the best sandwiches in town in a casual setting for a great price. And the sandwiches aren't just for those who enjoy animal protein, as there are some nice options for those who follow a vegetarian diet.

The Champ made with grilled roast beef, corned beef, baby Swiss, horseradish cheddar, sauteed red onion, banana peppers and Thousand Island dressing on toasted white bread is a favorite ($6.25 for a half sandwich, $8.25 for a full sandwich and $9.25 for a sandwich with more meat). The Hari Curry ($8.75) made with a grilled black bean burger with roasted tomato, red onion, red pepper, goat cheese and curry powder pressed on a garlic Tandoori Naan bread is probably my favorite vegetarian option.

They offer great soups and sides, plus there are B-movies playing behind the bar, some of the best sandwiches you could ask for including one of Dayton's best Ruebens and video games as far as the eye can see.
