Mothers who have purchased the adapters affected by the recall “should immediately discontinue use of the adapter if it shows signs of separating,” the company said in a statement. The affected power adapters subject to recall were sold with the breast pumps (the adapters were not sold separately) and were manufactured between November 2012 and July 2013 with the serial numbers P12324-XXXX through P13205-XXXX. The affected adapters can also by identified by their production codes of 1241 through 1324.
The Playtex Nurser Deluxe Double Electric Breast Pump was sold at nationwide retailers as well as specialty and online retailers. The company’s recall notice did not say how the potential defect came to light, and it did not immediately identify which retailers sold the product. It isn’t clear whether any of the recalled power adapters were sold in southwest or west-central Ohio retail stores.
Playtex is notifying retailers that carry its product to return any remaining pumps with affected AC/DC adapters.
