Violations/comments: Fix water leaks at hand sink in restroom and three-compartment sink. Fix properly. A thin-tipped thermometer must be present to take temperature of thin perishable foods (ex. sandwich meat). New cooler is holding temperature of temperature controlled for safety food above 45 degrees or below (few degrees off). Manager is working on issue and is not going to use cooler until the issue is fixed.

Date of inspection: Feb. 26

Violations/comments: Clean hard to reach areas of fryer and oven area, observed residual oil build up on surfaces. Observed walk-in freezer with food boxes/containers on floor. Ensure all food boxes are off floor to prevent contamination. Ensure all clean eating or preparation utensils are faced or positioned to prevent contamination of eating surfaces with hands. Handles on prep cooler must be repaired properly. Ceiling above prep cooler needs to be vinyl-clad surface. Replace where needed. Deep clean or resurface cutting boards in prep cooler area of stained residual. Do when needed and frequently. Walk in cooler wall and ceiling surfaces need repaired in some areas.

Skippers Tavern

Address: 101 N. Miami St., West Milton

Date of inspection: Feb. 26

Violations/comments: No soap and paper towels at bar hand sink. Ensure soap and paper towels are present to wash hands properly. Observed stained residual on cutting boards. Ensure cutting boards are deep cleaned or resurfaced or replaced when needed. Observed one section of top prep cooler not holding a temperature of 41 degrees F or below to limit growth of bacteria. Owner is working on issue and understands it cannot be used until issue is fixed. Install proper paper towel holder at hand sink in kitchen.

Coldwater Café

Address: 19 E. Main St., Tipp City

Date of inspection: Feb. 26

Violations/comments: Missing date marking on opened meats and cooked meats. Date foods with a consume by date not to exceed seven days to reduce harmful bacteria growth. Correcting. Salad mix found heaping over container, not allowing for all product to be 41 degrees F or below. Keep salad mix at 41 degrees F or fellow to reduce harmful bacteria growth. Observed linens remaining in breadbaskets between customers. Remove linens and clean and sanitize containers between customers to prevent cross contamination. Corrected. Switch flow of wash, rinse and sanitize at bar to protect clean dish storage.

The Bulldog Diner

Address: 30 Lowry Drive, West Milton

Date of inspection: Feb. 28

Violations/comments: Complaints received: Raw eggs sitting out at room temperature. Cutting raw sausage with a knife and then using the same knife for buttering toast.

Inspection: Went through complaint with owner. Food service understands that all temperature controlled for safety foods must maintain 41 degrees F or below (ex. Eggs). Furthermore food service understands that cross contamination of food from surfaces that touch raw meat cannot occur and is critical food safety element.

Kroger

Address: 751 W. Market St., Troy

Date of inspection: March 19

Violations/Comments: Complaint: Customer cut into muskmelon that was purchased from this store. It smelled and tasted like alcohol or thinner.

Inspection: Went through complaint with co-manager. He stated no issues are known in produce at this time. Also, I inspected the storage/display area and observed no issues at time of inspection.

Buffalo Jacks

Address: 137 S. High St., Covington

Date of inspection: March 21

Violations/comments: Complaint: Woman ate broiled fish with paprika seasoning. She became sick after eating the fish (on 3-16-13).

Inspection: Went through prep holding and cooking of broiled fish with person in charge, all handling of broiled fish at the time of inspection met food code standards. All temperatures were proper at time of inspection.

China East

Address: 1239 E. Ash St., Piqua

Date of inspection: Feb. 14

Violations/comments: Food items uncovered in the upright and wall freezer. Cover food items to prevent possible contamination. Noodles in bags on trays on the floor. Keep food six inches off floor to prevent contamination. The three-compartment sink drain is leaking. Observed signs of mice in storeroom. Take steps to remove mice and increase level of cleaning. Container of oil on table above fruit. Keep chemicals away from food to prevent possible contamination.

Circle K Subway

Address: 3519 S. County Road 25A, Troy

Date of inspection: Feb. 25

Violations/comments: No towel dispenser or hand soap at hand sink. Provide soap and disposable towels. Chemicals stored on top of food freezer. Keep chemicals stored separate from freezer to prevent cross contamination. Corrected. Ensure F’Real machine is manually cleaned and sanitized at least every four hours. Missing donut labels on case. Provide product name with donut. Cheese and chili temperatures 126 degrees, 127 degrees. Keep hot at 135 degrees or above to reduce harmful bacteria growth. Corrected by discarding. Contact service company to repair machine.
