“(The Gospel Mission) serve the needy of the community, they provide meals, clothing and computer training to anyone who comes in. The mission also has a full-service restaurant, The Kings Table, staffed by volunteers,” said Nance.
WFCJ’s bike-a-thon begins at 6 a.m. near Middletown and continues through Dayton and Xenia finishing at approximately 6 p.m. in the city of Newtown just east of Cincinnati.
“Listeners are invited to ride all or part of the way or to come out to say ‘hi’ along the way,” Nance said. “We urge listeners to send in pledges for our ride — ten cents a mile, a dollar a mile — whatever. Last year over $11 thousand was raised for the work of the mission. We will do live progress reports all day long on WFCJ.”
One day after launching the bike-a-thon, Nance and Morris will launch a new radio show. Beginning Saturday, June 5 the program “Hands of Time” will air weekly on 93.7 WFCJ-FM from 11 a.m. to noon. The program celebrates the pioneers and contemporary stars of Christian music. Morris said they plan to try and syndicate it nationally.
“Bill and I are producing this independently,” said Morris, host of WFCJ’s Morning View which runs from 6 to 9 a.m. Monday through Friday. “We basically look at the history of contemporary Christian Music."
