Blind Bob’s Bar, 430 E. Fifth St., hosted John Legend’s special performance for first responders and those impacted by the Aug. 4 mass shooting in the Oregon District on Sunday, Aug. 11.
The 30-minute set included Legend’s hits “Save Room,” “Ordinary People” and a crowd sing-along to his “All of Me.”
“Thank you, Dayton. I love you,” Legend said.

The Springfield native's versions of the Simon and Garfunkel classic "Bridge Over Troubled Water" brought tears to many eyes, as did his take on "Here Comes the Sun" from the Beatles' "Abbey Road" album.
Legend urged those in the crowd to support Oregon District businesses as owners and workers continue to recover from the trauma of last week’s shooting.
“Dayton is open for business,” he said.

While in the district, Legend purchased clothing for his children with TV host Chrissy Teigen at Heart and Beck + Call and looked at hats at Brim before having dinner at Corner Kitchen and giving the show at Blind Bob’s Bar, which is located near where a 24-year-old dressed in body armor used a semi-automatic pistol police say was modified to act like a rifle and killed nine people in the Oregon District,
Legend and Dayton Mayor Nan Whaley held a press conference in which they urged those who want strong gun control to contract political leaders.
