How to make a customized dry-erase board

A dry-erase board in your home could have many uses. The only problem: No one wants a giant white board hanging in the home. But you can make a customized dry-erase board in any size to match the decor in your home.

Plus, it will only cost you $6.28 to make.

I made mine to be a weekly calendar, but yours could be for a chore list, to-do list, grocery list or even a menu.

Supplies needed

Purchased:

• Picture frame with glass: $3.99 at Goodwill

• Brown acrylic paint: $1.29 at Michaels

• Four sheets of 12- by 12-inch scrapbook paper: 25 cents at Michaels

Items I already had around the house:

Mod Podge, foam brush, scissors, ruler, permanent marker, pencil and tape

Directions

1. Remove glass from the picture frame.

2. Paint the frame.

3. Apply a coat of Mod Podge to the painted frame and let dry completely.

4. Overlap scrapbook pages so they are the same size as your glass and tape them in place.

5. With the printed side of your scrapbook paper up, use a pencil and your ruler to divide your paper into eight even sections.

6. Trace over these sections with a permanent marker.

7. At the top of each section draw a line about 2 inches from the top.

8. Write in the day of the week in the boxes you just created. Mark the first box “Week of:” and the bottom portion “Notes.”

9. Place your glass back in the frame and insert your paper as the backdrop.

10. Use dry-erase markers on the glass to fill in your calendar of events.
