HELPING OUR COMMUNITY
Each week in Make a Difference, Meredith Moss publishes the wish lists of non-profit organizations in our region. If your non-profit has a list it would like to share, please contact Meredith: MMoss@coxohio.com Please leave a daytime phone number.
We get a lot of calls from folks who have office equipment or construction supplies they’d like to donate to a good cause. We have just the place.
The Montgomery County Material Reuse Facility (McMRF), operated by the Montgomery County Solid Waste District (MCSWD), collects and warehouses donated items and then redistributes them to qualifying organizations free of charge.
“McMRF is an excellent way for our community members to support local nonprofits by donating their used or spare office and construction supplies,” says Brianna Wooten, communications coordinator. “The facility also protects our environment by promoting the reuse of materials that would otherwise go to landfill.”
Wooten says more than 500 Montgomery County businesses and residents regularly donate reusable materials which are then redistributed to more than 600 benefactors.
Any non-profit organization located in Montgomery County, Ohio can shop at McMRF at no cost. Donors can be located anywhere. Nonprofit 501 (c)(3) organizations in Montgomery County are invited to become member by calling call (937) 496-6639 or (937) 789-7698 to request a registration packet.
“We appreciate all donations, and so do our benefactors,” says Wooten.
