Columnist didn't tell all about Hadassah Lieberman

Re “Wife’s job shouldn’t be in jeopardy because of politics,” Dec. 17: Kathleen Parker’s commentary on Hadassah Lieberman’s work for the Susan Komen Foundation had pertinent omissions.

Parker makes a point of telling the reader that Mrs. Lieberman worked for Hoffman-La Roche in the 70s, Pfizer in the 80s, and Apco in the 90s, but nowhere does she mention her recent work with the lobbying firm Hill and Knowlton. Her title there was “senior counselor” in the firm’s health care and pharmaceuticals practice.

Parker just glosses over the fact that for close to four decades now, Hadassah Lieberman has added to the Lieberman family fortune by working for lobbying firms that represent the pharmaceutical and insurance industries.

Furthermore, the polls show that the every one of the districts that Sen. Joe Lieberman represents favor health care reform, including the public option, some by wide margins. Yet, the senator goes against the wishes of the people who elected him and sides with the insurance industry.

Parker and others write these one-sided opinions without giving all of the facts. Health care is too important for this kind of nonsense.
