Delco Park still has meaning to many Kettering-area residents

Re “Delco Park name may change to honor vets,” Feb. 17: I am opposed to renaming Delco Park. Delco, in Kettering, was built in the early ’50s.

It not only represents Delco founder Charles Kettering, but the thousands of workers who spent part or most of their lives at Delco. These people helped shape the city of Kettering and kept it going.

Delco and GM are now gone, but many of the people who worked there still reside in Kettering. This is all of the name and remembrance we have left.

We have some very nice veterans organizations in Kettering representing them, including the VFW and the American Legion.

I am a vet and also a Delco-Delphi retiree. I think people involved in the name change have not considered the feelings of people like me.
