Grandpa Joe’s Candy Store is an old-school experience

ajc.com

Miamisburg, Middletown and Troy have a very special store that offers more than 250 varieties of candy bars and over 100 varieties in bulk candies.

In fact, these stores have more than 15,000 pounds of candy patiently waiting to be purchased.

Grandpa Joe’s Candy Shop is an old-school experience with an unmatched candy selection. It has all the candy, gifts and novelties that a Christmas stocking is looking for.

With more than 250 flavors of old-fashioned glass-bottled soda with flavors ranging from Birch Beer and Sarsaparilla to Ginger Beer and Bacon Soda (seriously), this is a store that has affordable gifts that are sure to be conversation pieces.

Here are some of our favorite items we came across on a recent shopping spree.

Fascinating chocolate bars

There's so much candy here you won't know what to look at first — especially if you have a sweet tooth. Hammond's "Pigs N' Taters" chocolate bars was one of many that caught our eye. Milk chocolate bars stuffed with crispy bacon flavored bits and potato chips ($3.95).

Vintage candy

Mallow Cups? Check. Chuckles? Check. Abba-Zaba? Check. GooGoo Clusters? Check. They have it all.

Pickle Candy Canes?

They have those, too.

Grandpa Joe's "world famous" $5 candy buffet

Grab a box, fill it to the brim, buy it for $5.

Sodas

As far as the eye can see. They have a Buckeye State Scarlett Soda made out of Cincinnati that would be a great host or hostess gift, or a gift for the Ohio State lover in your life. They have a massive selection of root beers, colas and every other soda you can imagine and some that you can't like bacon soda, peanut butter and jelly soda, ranch dressing soda, zombie brain juice and toxic slime.

A bag of cereal marshmallows

Seriously, those marshmallows you pick out of cereal. They have done all the work for you. This is a stocking stuffer winner and goes great on ice cream.

A Krampus scarf

Because nothing says happy holidays like a scary red devil.

A unicorn air freshener

Cotten candy scented for just $3.50

Specialty socks

Albert Einstein, Bob Ross, The Dude from the Big Lebowski, rainbows, sushi, cats, dinosaurs, even rubber chickens — they have something for everyone on your list for prices ranging from $10 to $14.

A truly impressive Golden Girls selection

Golden Girls Clue, Golden Girls Monopoly and more. If you have a fan of Sophia Petrillo, Dorothy Zbornak, Rose Nylund and Blanche Devereaux in your life this is the jackpot.

Mr. Bacon Christmas ornament

An example of some of the kitschy little gifts they have scattered around the shop. This one sells for just $13.95.

Crickets and assorted other insects

Ewwwwwwww — crickets, scorpions, earth worms and other creepy crawlies make for a great post-holiday dinner dare session.
