Fresh Florida citrus coming to Dayton Thanksgiving weekend

A Florida citrus truckload sale is coming to town this holiday weekend.

Indian River Direct will be bringing freshly harvested seedless navel oranges, ruby red grapefruits and sol-zest seedless tangerines. The fresh-picked fruit hails from Indian River County, Fla.

The fruit will be sold to the public from trucks on a first-come, first-served basis with no purchasing limits and no pre-ordering.

A 20-pound box of oranges is $33, a 20-pound box of grapefruit is $30 and a 20-pound box of tangerines is $40. Cash, checks and all major credit cards will be accepted.

This is the beginning of the prime citrus season, which runs from November through March.

Sugar Belle oranges will be available in December and Honeybell orange season starts in January.
