The YMCA building on Wilkinson Street in Dayton was dedicated in September 1929.

The Young Mens Christian Association of Dayton was founded in 1858. It was housed in several locations before it moved to the current location.

At the time it opened the building contained 13 floors, 245 residence rooms, three gymnasiums, 15 classrooms, four laboratories and facilities for 1,000 students, according to the YMCA of Greater Dayton website.

The building is featured in today's update to the popular Then & Now photo series, which displays past and present images of some of Dayton's most notable locations.

It also housed a chapel, swimming pool, handball and squash courts and a cafeteria auditorium in the basement that seated 450.
