This year McDonald is collecting toiletries as well as winter clothing items for area seniors. “Our senior citizens are most at risk this time of year,” she says. ” Some of them are alone and on fixed incomes with no extra money to purchase crucial things for the winter.”
Here’s what they need to fill their winter gift bags:
- Small soaps
- Lotions
- Washcloths
- Deodorant
- Shampoo
- Conditioner
- Socks
- Combs and brushes
- Gloves
- Scarves
- Warm hats
Small personal sizes are preferred so they can be put into gift bags, which will be assembled by group of community volunteers and the Trotwood Women’s Association.
Donations may be taken to the Trotwood Government Center on weekdays between 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. through Dec. 30. The Center is located at 3035 Olive Road. Checks may be made out to Mayor Mary McDonald or Vice-Mayor Gales c/o “Trotwood Christmas Gifts.”
If you have questions, call McDonald at (937) 901-9191.
Does your group need more light?
A reader is asking if there is a non-profit organization in our area that could use 40 light bulbs — some halogen, some incandescent (39-50 watts). The halogens, she says, are par 20 bulbs.
