>> We tried 6 board games by Ohio designers, and here's how they rate
Campbell says Taco Cat Goat Cheese Pizza was inspired by card games such as Slapjack, Spoons and Egyptian War.
The game uses only a deck of cards. Each card features adorable drawings of tacos, cats, goats and so on.

“The name of the game is actually kind of the mantra,” Campbell says. “People are going around the table saying, ‘Taco, cat, goat, cheese, pizza.’ Essentially what happens is the person to the left of the dealer starts the saying. ‘Taco,’ and they lay out a card from the deck onto the middle of the pile on the table. And then the person to their left flips out a card and says, ‘cat.’ And the next person, ‘goat.’

This continues until the word the person says matches the card they put down.
“At that point, everybody goes hog wild and slaps their hand on the top of the pile. And the last person to do it has to take all the cards.”

The object of the game is to get rid of all your cards.
“I've also introduced some special actions into the game.” Campbell explains. “There's three special cards. The narwhal, where everybody slaps their hands above their head and then slaps the top of the pile. There's a gorilla card where everybody beats their chest, then slaps their hands in the middle of the pile. And then there's the groundhog, where everybody slaps the table really quickly and slaps the middle of the pile.”

“It makes a really wild, fun game,” Campbell says.
Campbell tells Dayton.com that one of the great things about Taco Cat Goat Cheese Pizza is that it comes in a small package.
“It's literally self-contained in just one small deck of cards. So you could have anywhere from two or three players, up to eight, nine. It'd be a crazy game, but it would be fun. Really, as many people as you can fit around a table,” he says.

Taco Cat Goat Cheese Pizza is suitable for all ages, Campbell, a father of four, tells us.
“Some of the best commentary I've gotten on the game are from people who have been playing it at D20 who are playing it like a drinking game. But really, it's intended for everybody across generations.”
You can get a copy of Taco Cat Goat Cheese Pizza by pledging $9 on the game's Kickstarter page. The game is expected to be delivered in March of 2018.
