A man who died following a crash in Harrison Twp. over the weekend that also injured three people has been identified.

Steven Centers, 53, was pronounced dead on Interstate 75 South on Saturday night, according to Montgomery County Coroner Dr. Kent Harshbarger.

Around 7:04 p.m., Montgomery County sheriff’s deputies responded to I-75 near Stop Eight Road on reports of a fatal crash.

A Hyundai Tucson was headed south on I-75 when in the area Stop Eight Road the driver left the lane and struck the front of a blue 2013 Ford F-150 pickup truck traveling south in the middle lane, the sheriff’s office said.

The Tucson went across the middle lane and right lane before it traveled off the west side of the highway and hit the sound barrier wall. The driver, later identified as Centers, was ejected. Harrison Twp. medics responded and pronounced the driver deceased on scene, deputies said.

One passenger in the Tucson and two passengers in the pickup truck were taken to Miami Valley Hospital with injuries that were not life-threatening. The driver of the pickup truck was not injured in the crash.

Speed and impairment are suspected contributing factors in the crash, which remains under investigation by the Traffic Services Unit of the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office.
