An 18-year-old is dead after a reported accidental shooting Monday morning in Trotwood.

The gunshot victim was identified as Joshua Edward Rogers by Montgomery County Coroner Dr. Kent Harshbarger.

Emergency crews were dispatched at 9:42 a.m. to the 300 block of Grand Avenue for the reported shooting.

A 911 caller reported hearing a gunshot and saw the victim come out of a room screaming. The caller said the shooting was believed to be accidental, and that the victim was 18.

Trotwood police said people in the house started to take Rogers to a local hospital but were intercepted by medics on the way. Police said that medics rendered aid immediately and took him to Miami Valley Hospital.

He was pronounced dead at the hospital about an hour after the shooting was reported, according to the coroner’s office.

Juveniles were involved in the shooting, which remains under investigation, police said.
