1 injured in Dayton police involved shooting

One person was injured in a shooting involving Dayton police late Friday night.

Crews responded around 11:36 p.m. at the 900 block of Custer Place on a “weapons call concerning an individual with a gun,” according to a statement from the Dayton Police Department.

Police said officers found an individual with a firearm upon arrival to the scene. The suspect was given commands to drop the weapon. Police added shortly after, they shot the suspect.

The victim was transported to a local hospital with non-life threatening injuries and is in stable condition.

The Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office will be handling the criminal investigation and the Dayton Police Department’s Professional Standards Bureau will conduct an administrative investigation.
