Two young Springboro High grads killed in Clearcreek Twp. crash

Two Springboro High School graduates were killed and a Bellbrook woman injured late Saturday night in a two-vehicle crash in Clearcreek Twp.

The crash victims were identified Wednesday as 20-year-old Michael Todd Barch Jr. of Clearcreek Twp. and 19-year-old Karys Rose Seipel of Springboro by the Ohio State Highway Patrol.

The crash happened around 11:35 p.m. at the intersection of East Lytle Five Points Road and Ohio 48.

Mary Huelsman, 57, of Bellbrook was headed south in a 2022 Kia Telluride on state Route 48 when she struck a 2016 Chevrolet Malibu driven by Barch that was headed east on Lytle Five Points Road. The impact forced both vehicles to go off the side of the road and hit a wooden utility pole, according to the patrol.

Barch and his passenger, Seipel, were pronounced dead at the scene.

Huelsman was taken to Kettering Health with injuries that were not life-threatening.

The crash remains under investigation.

Barch was a 2021 graduate of Springboro High School. A funeral visitation is 1:30 to 3 p.m. Saturday followed by a celebration of life service at 3 p.m. at Fairhaven Church, 637 E. Whipp Road in Centerville, according to his obituary.

Seipel was a 2022 graduate of Springboro High School and was a Miami University student majoring in psychology, according to her obituary. Private services will be at the convenience of the family.
