Trotwood detectives are investigating an apparent fatal domestic dispute in which a man and woman were shot following a two-vehicle crash.

Crystal Lugo, 44, and Antonio Heard, 38, both died at Miami Valley Hospital, according to Montgomery County Coroner Dr. Kent Harshbarger

Lugo died Tuesday afternoon and Heard died Thursday evening. The cause and manner of death have not been determined for either.

Around 3:20 p.m. on Tuesday Trotwood officers responded to a two-vehicle crash near Olive Road and Hoover Avenue.

Both drivers had gunshot wounds in addition to other injuries from the crash, according to Trotwood police. Lugo and Heard knew each other, but additional information about their relationship was not available.

A media statement said the incident appears to be intentional.

“This incident is being investigated as a domestic dispute that turned deadly and it is believed that there are no other persons involved in this incident,” the press release read.

Lugo was a mail room employee at the Dayton Correctional Institution.

“Employee support services and mental health staff have been onsite this week, supporting staff and the incarcerated population, and the warden recently met with Ms. Lugo’s family,” said JoEllen Smith, communications chief for the Ohio Department of Rehabilitation and Correction. “DCI will host a memorial in honor of Ms. Lugo for staff and the incarcerated population in September.”

On social media, several people said they were shocked to learn of her death.

“Our hearts go out to Ms. Lugo’s family, friends and coworkers during this difficult time,” Smith added.
